Japan's highest grossing second hand fashion clothing and accessories resale store, 2nd Street USA, has opened its first US location on Melrose in Los Angeles. This is the first location for the brand outside of Japan.

The Melrose store will offer 10,000 pieces covering 2,800 square feet of store space from brands including Supreme, MCM, Burberry, and Vivienne Westwood. It will also feature labels popular in Japan which include Comme des Garçons, A Bathing Ape and Porter.

In addition to buying and selling second hand clothing and accessories, the Melrose store will sell a line of recycled clothing called Kurofine.

Kurofine stands for closed loop sustainability. It recycles used clothing by dyeing color-faded or stained clothing to a deep black using a special dying process.

Masahiro Kikuchi, CEO of 2nd Street USA., Inc. said that 2nd Street customers have come to expect reliable quality goods, strong customer service and "Japanese-style hospitality" from the brand.

Kikuchi said, "I am eagerly looking forward to seeing how well Japan's inspiring reuse concept, 'to bring about good things from objects,' is able to flourish in the American market."

2nd Street Melrose forecasts sales of $100,000 USD per month. It has plans to open two more stores in California during its 2018 fiscal year which runs April 2018 through March 2019. It further aims to expand to ten stores in the US by 2020.
