Aesop opens latest NYC location in a former dry cleaners

Aesop has added to its long list of New York City retail locations with a new Upper West Side outpost at 219 Columbus Avenue.

 
Tacklebox Architecture designed the 700-square-foot store’s interior that features the Australian cosmetics label’s signature milled pine plywood walls and service counter, as well as grey terrazzo tiles, and white walls and ceiling.
 
The Upper West Side store’s shelves are special for resembling upside-down clothing hangers, which serve as a nod to the space’s previous tenants: Anel French Dry Cleaners. Aesop also retained the façade and signage of the cleaners that operated from the 1960’s to 2014.

Aesop currently operates 12 stores in New York City, with 10 in Manhattan and 2 in Brooklyn.
