American Eagle is expanding its network of stores in Colombia with the help of its local partner, the Uribe Group. On 17th November, the US urban fashion and denim brand opened its first high-street store in Colombia, in the country's capital, Bogotà, next to the Andino shopping mall.

American Eagle landed in Colombia in 2015, and since then has built up a portfolio of 13 stores in 6 cities, managed by Colombian fashion and textile group Uribe, which represents several foreign labels in the Latin American country, such as Mango, Naf Naf and Chevignon.

American Eagle opened its maiden flagship store on the continent last August, with a shop located on Madero Street, in Mexico City's historic old town. The latest store in Colombia is the second of its kind in Latin America, and extends over an area of more than 150 m2 on two levels, with a glass façade and interiors featuring a distinctively urban feel.

The US label operates more than 950 stores around the world, 165 of them in high-street locations and the rest inside shopping malls. The USA, Canada, Hong Kong, China and the UK are the top markets for American Eagle, now expanding at a fast clip in Latin America too. In the second half of the current fiscal year, American Eagle reported a sales increase of 2.6% compared with the same period in 2016, reaching a revenue of $844 million.
