Footwear company Bucketfeet and non-profit Bright Pink recently announced a footwear partnership with a good cause. The collaboration shoe, “One in Eight,” is designed to start a conversation about early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women, Bright Pink’s focus.

Bucketfeet and Bright Pink asked communities to submit footwear designs, and the winning shoe, One in Eight, emerged as the best representation of Bright Pink’s mission. The footwear company and the non-profit jointly selected the design by Brittney Grandmaison.

"1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime and I think it is important that all women know this statistic,” said Brittney Grandmaison. “On this shoe you will see one pink bra amongst a group of eight other bras in a row to represent the woman who does end up getting breast cancer. There are so many resources out there to help women with self-exams and early detection. I am hoping to stress the importance of taking advantage of these resources so we can change these statistics."

With each pair of shoes sold, Bucketfeet will donate $10 to help fund Bright Pink’s programs. The non-profit builds digital experiences that help women evaluate their risk of cancer and helps almost half a million women every year create educated risk management plans.

“Our partnership with Bright Pink has allowed us to further engage both of our communities and get closer to reaching our aligned goal of creating a better and brighter world. We are delighted with the selected design from Brittney Grandmaison and know that it will spark conversations surrounding women’s health,” said Raaja Nemani, co-founder and CEO of Bucketfeet. “Using artist-designed shoes as the vehicle, we are honored to bring awareness to Bright Pink and what this highly effective organization is able to achieve.”
