The high-end hair care line will extend its reach this fall with a launch at mega retailer Ulta Beauty. The Ulta launch is part of a larger strategy to expand the brand.
Bumble and bumble is slated to arrive at Ulta’s stores and online shop in August. The brand’s products will be stocked at a new section specifically devoted to other prestige hair care labels. Ulta is known for carrying a mix of high-end and affordable beauty brands, and currently carries hair care brands such as Paul Mitchell and Living Proof.
The launch at Ulta is part of a larger strategy from Bumble and bumble to expand its business. The brand, which is owned by Estée Lauder, will also redesign its website and provide a makeover to its flagship salon located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The brand also has plans to partner with online influencers, a strategy that has proved successful for many cosmetics brands.
Bumble and bumble was founded by hairstylist Michael Gordon in 1977 and the company now operates two flagship salons in New York City. Its products are also sold at Ulta’s competitor, Sephora.
In May, Ulta reported a 40 percent increase in net income for the first quarter of 2017. The retailer also announced plans to open 100 new stores across the country.
