Camping World Holdings to acquire Midwest outdoors brand Erehwon Mountain Outfitter

Camping World Holdings has announced it will acquire Erehwon Mountain Outfitter, a leading Midwest specialty retailer of outdoor gear and apparel.

Marcus Lemonis, Chairman of Camping World Holdings (Camping World) said the acquisition is part of Camping World's strategic plan to segment the outdoor space for large scale growth. He said, “In each segment, we are focused on finding connection through customer cross-matching" as well as introducing new product.

Lemonis continued, "This will allow us to ultimately offer customers one medium for discounts, benefits, and services for all their outdoor supply needs through the Camping World Holdings network.”

Erehwon Mountain Outfitter is a 45-year-old brand that sells outdoor apparel and gear in the Midwest. It has three stores in the Chicago area and a flagship in Milwaukee.

Lemonis said, "This acquisition strengthens Camping World Holding’s efforts to build a seamless approach to the outdoor lifestyle market and further positions the company to expand the reach and product offerings of our e-commerce business.”

In the past year, Camping World acquired Gander Mountain, Overton's, TheHouse.com, Uncle Dan's, and W82 (formerly Windward Boardshop). The acquisitions cover hunting, fishing, camping, outdoor gear, boating and marine accessories.

Properties Camping World acquired included physical brick and mortar stores as well as online platforms. Categories and product lines added to the business include bikes, sailboards, skateboards, wakeboards, outerwear, swimwear, accessories and specialty snow, skate and longboards.

Camping World has been in business since 1966. It operates 135 branded retail location in 36 states, with headquarters in Illinois. Its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "CWH".
