"As our home market, with a competitive and fast-evolving prestige beauty landscape, North America remains a central part of our corporate strategy and an important engine for the company’s long-term sustainable growth," said Freda, in a statement.

While in the UK, he pioneered the company’s evolution from a traditional department store model into a diversified omnichannel business, including leading online and mobile commerce. Prior to that, he was on the leadership team for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and served as general manager, Russia.

In the same announcement, Estee Lauder said Claudia Benshimol has been appointed senior vice president and general manager of Estée Lauder and Aerin Beauty for North America, effective October 1. The executive has the task of building the established Estee Lauder brand in North America and will also oversee Aerin Beauty, as it grows its luxury fragrance and beauty business in the region.

Benshimol will in turn report to Good, with a supervisory link to Stéphane de la Faverie, Estee Lauder's global brand president.

In late August, Estee Lauder Companies reported its most recent quarterly results topped quarterly profit and sales estimates. Total revenues rose 14 percent to $3.3 billion for the period ended June 30.
