Among the fashion veterans are Valentino’s creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpalo Piccioli in the fifth and sixth spots "for turning a storied fashion house into a $1 billion juggernaut". Nike’s vice president and creative director for global, Martin Lotti, took the 28 spot, H&M's beauty concept designer Sara Wallander came in at 35, while Bandier founder Jennifer Bandier and Virgil Abloh, creative director of streetwear label Off-White, came in at the 41 and 75 spot respectively.

“Our goal is to discover and highlight the people around the world who are not just thinking differently, but also putting their ideas into action to create new opportunities, redefine the rules of modern business, and drive change within their own industries and beyond,” says Fast Company editor Robert Safian, in a news statement. “In today’s rapidly evolving world, it is creative and innovative leaders like these 100 who will continue to move the needle and inspire us all.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the composer, lyricist, and star of Broadway's "cultural and financial force" Hamilton, earned the number one spot. Miranda also covers the issue.

Fast Company is a monthly American business magazine published in print and online that focuses on technology, business, and design. Its Most Creative People list was first introduced in 2009.
