First edition of Toronto's Re/Set comes to a close

On Tuesday night, the first edition of the Toronto fashion showcase Re/Set came to a close. The two night event organized by Toronto-based production agency The Collections, featured Canadian womenswear and menswear designers in a series of fashion showcases and runway presentations.
 
The event took place at the historic Toronto venue, The Great Hall, where a showroom was equally opened, presenting items from ready-to-wear designers such as Tara Rivas for TMR, Triarchy, as well as accessory designers Dean Davidson, Krane, Cuchara, and shoes by Zvelle.
 
"It's been an amazing two days of fashion, art and music and we are so grateful for the support of the industry as a whole, and especially to Robin Kay, whose guidance and experience allowed us to put together a transformative event," said The Collections, in a news statement.
 

On Monday, Sid Neigum kicked off the event with a fashion showcase featuring eight monochromatic looks from his Spring/Summer 2017 collection. His womenswear line featured intricate pieces including a wrap skirt and several dresses in red, black and white.
 
Then, it was the turn of Toronto-based duo Markoo to put on a static presentation where tailored items and outerwear in several textured fabrics stood out.

Later in the evening, menswear line Klaxon Howl was presented in a fashion showcase where popular Canadian model Paul Mason could be found sporting camo pants and a velvet blazer.
 
That act was followed by Montreal-based Pedram Karimi, closing the night with a fashion showcase featuring a musical performance by Apigeon where the singer undressed and redressed models in various designs, while singing.
 
Day two of the event was kicked-off by cruelty-free Canadian womenswear brand, Hilary MacMillan who showcased her Fall/Winter 2017 collection in a runway presentation.
 

The duo behind Beaufille then presented top looks from its Spring/Summer 2017 collection in a static showcase, featuring a series of femine looks in menswear-inspired fabrics such as plaid.
 
Then, Thomas Bálint's Fall/Winter 2017 collection was presented in a runway presentation. The Bell-sleeve stole the show, appearing in a number of different pieces.
 
Finally, WRKDEPT closed the two-day event with their ready-to-wear unisex Fall/Winter 2017 collection that boasted bold colours, hand crafted accessories and avant-garde pieces.

Following the cancelation of Toronto's official fashion week, several new fashion showcases have emerged including Re/Set, as well as others that will be taking place later this month and into the month of March.
