James Thompson appointed Avon SVP, GC and CEC

Avon Products Inc. has announced James Thompson will be the next Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.

He will succeed Jeff Benjamin who as previously announced he will be retiring from Avon. Thompson will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Sheri McCoy and will be based out of Avon Products Inc.'s London headquarters.

McCoy said of Thompson, "He is a seasoned and highly talented General Counsel, with broad international experience across many industries. As a member of the Avon executive team, James will play an important role as we drive sustainable profitable growth."

Thompson was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary to Chiquita Brands International, Inc. for nine years in Charlotte, NC. Prior to Chiquita, he was General Counsel for global telecom company McLeodUSA.

Thompson's consumer products experience began when he was a director for Alticor, the parent company of direct sales company, Amway. He got his legal start out of the University of Michigan Law School practicing antitrust and corporate law with global firm Jones Day.

Thompson will begin his role with Avon August 1, 2017.
