John Fluevog to open first store outside North America

After kicking off 2017 with two new store openings, Canadian footwear brand John Fluevog ended the year with another bang, announcing the opening of its first store outside North America.

Slated to open in Spring 2018, John has chosen the city of Amsterdam to open its 25th boutique and the first to operate outside of North America and in Europe. The store will be located on Heiligeweg near the city’s Nine Streets shopping district.

“I’m over the moon about opening in Amsterdam,” said John. “It’s a huge step for us in many ways and I feel like we’re more than ready to bring our forward-thinking footwear to the vibrant and historic streets of Europe.”

The niche Vancouver retailer who’s been around for over 45 years, opened several stores in 2017 including a second store location in Brooklyn, New York and three stores in Canada.

“If we’re opening some [new stores] you can tell we did well the year before,” explained John Fluevog’s CMO, Stephen Bailey, to FashionNetwork.com last year, upon opening two new stores in Montreal and Edmonton.

If the end of year announcement is any indication of what’s to come in 2018, new store openings may be popping up. Still, other store openings and new markets are yet to be announced.

John Fluevog currently operates stores in 17 cities in North America including Los Angeles, Boston, New York and Seattle.
