Smith held his Fall/Winter 2016 presentation on Sunday, February 14. In addition to launching the new collection, the designer debuted his newly redesigned online store on tablets. Attendees had the opportunity to buy the new collection in real time at the presentation thanks to Smith’s partnership with BigCommerce.

“This Fashion Week, I wanted to do something a little more daring. I wanted to challenge the status quo for how and when consumers are able to purchase designs,” said LaQuan Smith. “BigCommerce helped me build an online store that’s truly an extension of my brand, with a modern, simple aesthetic that highlights the clothes in the most beautiful way. Now, anyone is able to purchase my new collection the moment they fall in love with the designs.”

E-commerce platform, BigCommerce allows for users to build online stores and grow them twice as fast as the e-commerce industry average. The cloud-based platform supports merchants like Martha Stewart, Travelpro, Dorco and Duck Commander. With BigCommerce, Smith brought together his two existing websites to create a more streamlined experience for his customers.

Smith established his eponymous luxury ready-to-wear womenswear line in 2010. The brand offers an array of styles produced exclusively in New York City that have caught the attention of many celebrities including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, Alexa Chung, Tyra Banks, Ciara, Dakota Fanning and Hannah Bronfman.

With BigCommerce, the designer will serve as a brand ambassador for the company’s new line of design-centric themes.
