Rebag.com, the New York City-based online luxury handbag resale service, opened on Tuesday a pop up concept store in New York City at 390 West Broadway.

The company, formerly known as Rebagg, relaunched this month with a new name and business model that focuses on sellers of the secondary market and its consumers.

Founded by fashion and finance veteran Charles Gorra, Rebag purchases pre-owned handbags directly from owners that submit photos pictures via a mobile app in exchange for a price quote. If the owner accepts the price quote, the company will pick up the item via its White Glove courier service, or the owner can ship the item for free within the US.

The SoHo pop up quickens the Rebag resale process by reselling customers’ handbags on the spot. Handbags are reviewed, authenticated and purchased from the seller, simplifying the secondary market by reducing waiting times and middlemen.

Red Antler designed the pop up, in partnership with Small Office and Shin Okuda of Waka Waka, and the store carries over 50 designer brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Céline, as well as limited edition artist collaborations.

“Today, people want everything to be both instant and transparent, with the touch of a button on their phone; including the way they resell luxury goods,” said Gorra.

“The resale value proposition is flawed and downright frustrating for sellers. Despite all recent attempts to digitalize the experience, the core concept of consignment has largely gone untouched since its inception in the 1900s. It's time for a change.”
