Raised in Flushing, Queens, Hymes co-founded West Coast Exclusive trade show in Los Angeles with Hyela Sablosky and Stephanie Goetz in 1998 and later moved the show to Las Vegas in 2002. The trade show was named MRket in 2007, the same year that Business Journals acquired it. Hymes remained with the trade show for eight years before his accident.

“I want to remain a part of the menswear business,” said Hymes in 2015 after leaving MRket. “But my focus will be on consulting with brands and companies that want to break in, expand distribution or change their current positioning.”

Prior to entering the trade show business, Hymes served as a representative on the east and west coasts of the US.

The industry learned of Hymes death through a Facebook post from his daughter, Nicole. Many took the time to share their thoughts about Larry, as well as condolences for the Hymes family. Larry was described as a “a straight shooter” and “a good man with a good heart.”

Larry Hymes is survived by his daughter Nicole. A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles and a burial will be held in Farmingdale, Long Island.
