For the initiative, 13 U.S.-based brands have each designed a non-partisan, unisex t-shirt made to encourage American citizens to vote. Participating designers include the likes of Alice + Olivia, Carolina Herrera and Milk Studios.

The shirts, which feature slogans like "Your Vote, Your Future" and simply "Vote," are available exclusively on Moda Operandi's e-commerce platform. All sales proceeds will go directly to Rock the Vote.

"With midterm elections around the corner, we felt the timing was just as relevant to launch a campaign focused on voter awareness," said Lauren Santo Domingo, co-founder of Moda Operandi, in a release. "We admire [Rock the Vote's] tenacity to engage with younger voters to ensure their voice is heard. Voting is a privilege and right, and all Americans have a duty to participate. We hope this program encourages just that amongst the fashion crowd and beyond."

According to analysis by Michael McDonald at the University of Florida, voter turnout at the last U.S. midterm election in 2014 was the lowest since 1942, when a high percentage of the American population was embroiled in the Second World War. In 2014, just 37% of eligible voters cast ballots.

Rock the Vote identifies as a non-partisan organization.
