Montreal’s Fashion Museum opens Blue Spectrum

Montreal’s Fashion Museum is set to open a new exhibition on Friday titled Blue Spectrum.

The exhibition will feature garments and accessories made from 1900 to the present day that highlight the colour blue and its many shades.

“Blue Spectrum highlights the recurring and essential character of this colour, revealing the subtlety of designers in their choice of the right shades for their creations: classic shades for Chanel, elegant ones for Balmain, or eccentric ones for Comme des garçons,” the museum says in a news statement.

The exhibition equally sheds light on the origins of blue and its uses around the world, and invites viewers to consider their emotional connections to the colour.

For this new exhibition, the Fashion Museum worked with Montreal-based artists to exhibit unique pieces in blue. Creations by Ariane Brunet-Juteau from Kinsu, Karen Quirion from KQK, Virginie Turcot-Lamarre from Louve Montréal and more will all be on display.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until April 9, 2017.

Formerly the Musée du costume et du textile du Québec, Montreal’s Fashion Museum is located in Old Montreal.
