Muji’s first venture into Western Canada is so anticipated, customers will need a reservation to shop.

“Due to the high interest in the pop-up store, there will be a reservation system in place to access the retail area,” the Japanese retailer stated on its website.

Muji announced last month that it would open a pop-up shop inside Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim, as part of the Japan Unlayered exhibition. The pop-up will be Muji’s first stop in the province.

Shoppers have been asked to reserve a 15-minute shopping period online. Time slots will be made available 48 hours in advance. Shoppers can also subscribe to a wait list to be notified of any last minute openings. Muji says it is hoping that this system will allow the shopping experience to be more comfortable for customers.

Muji first expanded to Canada in 2014 with the opening of a storefront in Toronto. I has already stated that it plans to open a permanent store in Vancouver, but no location or opening date has been announced.

The pop-up shop will be open from January 27 until February 28.
