The Green Bay Packers' athlete Martellus Bennett can now add the position of children's fashion designer to his resume with the announcement of his new Martyland x Mimobee line set to debut this summer.

On his Instagram he explained, "Dressing my daughter Jett over the years has been one of my favorite things to do as a dad. She loves clothes and has been asking me to design and make clothes that she can wear."

Of his new Mimobee collaboration, he points to his daughter who asked him to design her dresses that looked the way the characters were dressed in his children's books. He knew of Mimobee through his wife's e-commerce site and reached out to its founders to pitch the collection.

The new apparel collection is the latest component of the creative agency he formed several years ago called The Imagination Agency. He has used that organization to design and produce children's books, playgrounds in his childhood neighborhoods and cartoons.

Bennett spoke of his design interest alongside being an NFL star and Super Bowl Champion saying, “there’s this pressure from society to make you feel that once you’ve accomplished one of your dreams then you’ve made it. But there’s no reason for you to give up on all your dreams. You can be more than one thing."

He said of fashion, “I’ve always been interested in clothing because it’s an extension of how we feel. It’s another way to tell a story... I’m more of a cartoon character. I wear the same things all the time.”

His favorite brands range from Comme des Garçons to 424 and says he has his wardrobe staples custom made. He also is aware that fashion is traditionally a hard industry for an NFL football player to break into in comparison to NBA basketball players which are generally embraced by the industry.

With respect to Martyland x Mimobee, he points to color as being a driving focus for the collection as well as functionality so kids can actually play in the clothes.

He says of his color theory, "kids should always be in colors [and not in the] OshKosh B’Gosh or Wal-Mart style of color where it’s pink for girls or blue for boys. I think that’s ridiculous. I just [tried] to find something that felt very unisex."

The Martyland x Mimobee collection will launch this July.
