A new travel and leather goods brand called Oliver Cabell has launched with a mission to bring cost transparency to the luxury accessories segment.

Seeing that most high-end brands keep prices of their luxury bags artificially high, Oliver Cabell has made honesty its main value.

"Designer bags sell for 12x the cost to make. By eliminating unnecessary markups we can provide higher quality goods at a fraction of the price," explains the company on its website. The price reduction is achieved by directly partnering with the finest factories and bypassing traditional markups.

The brand’s travel bags sell for $240 to $285.

The exact price breakdown of each item is detailed on the website, including materials, labor, transit and duties costs. According to the company, the cost price of a leather weekend travel bag amounts to $157, and is retailed for $285. A similar bag would be sold for $1,695 at a traditional retailer, says Oliver Cabell.

The brand also reveals the story of the factories it works with and their workers to provide further transparency to the consumer.

Oliver Cabell was launched in 2015 by Oxford graduate Scott Gabrielson.
