Nick Knight to be honoured with the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator

The British fashion photographer Nick Knight OBE will receive the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator for his outstanding contribution to the global fashion industry. The award ceremony, part of British Fashion Awards, will take place at the London Coliseum on Monday 23rd of November.

Nick Knight has become a worldwide icon for continuously challenging the notion of beauty and fashion. In 1982 he published his first book called Skinheads, whilst a student at Bournemouth. That was the beginning of an extensive and successful career which has included collaborations with feted designers such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Yohji Yamamoto.

Always at the forefront of progressive image-making, Knight has worked with some of the world’s most prestigious brands, including Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Lancôme, Swarovski, Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent, while his cutting-edge imagery has been published in  AnOther, i-D, Vogue, V Magazine and W magazine..

He has also directed award-winning videos for Bjork, Lady Gaga and Kanye West and his work has been exhibited at many international galleries and institutions including International Center of Photography, Gagosian Gallery, Tate Modern and Victoria & Albert Museum.

Knight also founded in 2000 the digital platform SHOWstudio to showcase fashion film with the ethos to show the entire creative process from conception to completion. A pioneer of the fashion film sector, he created awareness around the craft and pushed its boundaries further, helping some of the most sought-after filmmaker and artists to create visionary online content.

Previous winners of the Isabella Blow Award include Edward Enninful (2014), style director of W magazine, Lady Amanda Harlech (2013), creative consultant and muse of Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano, and Louise Wilson OBE (2012), who was professor of fashion design at Central Saint Martins.
