The twin co-founders behind Want Les Essentiels are parting ways with the luxury leather goods brand after 15 years of business.

Byron and Dexter Peart have sold their stake of the company to business partners Mark and Jacqueline Wiltzer, the owners of Mark Edwards Apparel Inc., a private label manufacturer and importer based in Montreal.

The sale includes the leather goods brand, well known for its luxury men’s and women’s accessories including functional bags, wallets and shoes. Most recently, the brand also delved into knitwear for men. The deal also includes five retail stores, baptized Want Apothecary, located in Canada (Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver) and New York, as well as the Want Agency. The terms of the sale were not made public.

The Canadian brothers from Montreal officially launched their business Want Les Essentiels de la Vie, in 2007, though it all began in 2000, with the opening of the Want Agency. It would then be in 2011 that the brothers would open their first Want Apothecary retail location.

The brothers success story is a fan favourite among Canada’s fashion scene. Byron and Dexter have both been honoured by Toronto’s Design Exchange and have taken home the title of accessory designer of the year from the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards in the past.

Details on Byron and Dexter’s next business venture are yet to be revealed.
