Since 1967, Polo Ralph Lauren has grown into one of the leading apparel, home, accessories and fragrance companies in the U.S., but if there’s anything synonymous with the brand, it’s the signature polo shirt. In honor of this staple, the company is releasing a line of five collectible polo shirts that will be released one at a time from now until November.

The time-sensitive launch is capitalizing on the industry's affinity with limited edition releases such as the recent juggernaut Supreme x Louis Vuitton collaboration that prompted hype on a monthly basis—the same approach Polo Ralph Lauren is trying with its limited edition line of wares.

Each shirt in the collection will play off of the signature, all-American Polo design while featuring athletic, collegiate and military-like nuances. Case in point, the first shirt in the assortment (the Tour Jacket Polo, $225) pays homage to the bomber jackets worn by U.S. soldiers based in the Pacific from the 40s through the 60s.

Subtle details include labyrinthine embroidery pinpointing bases around the Hawaiian islands where the men were stationed and replicas of eagle and tiger designs that were frequently found on souvenir jackets manufactured in Japan and Asia back in the day. The piece is rounded out by the signature Ralph Lauren logo and a collectible drawstring bag.
