LaRose, who is currently the President of North America at Under Armour, also served as Chief Revenue Officer – Digital and SVP Global E-Commerce at the Baltimore-based activewear company. Prior to joining Under Armour, he served as SVP, E-Commerce at Express and VP Multi-Channel and International Business at Sears Holdings Corporation.

"We are very pleased to add Jason LaRose to our outstanding group of directors,” said Michael Appel, Chairman of the Board. “With his strong background in eCommerce, omnichannel retailing, and building communities, he will be a valuable addition as our Board works together to help strengthen, grow, and expand rue21."

The Under Armour executive joins Rue21’s Board of Directors just one week after the specialty retailer reorganized its Board as part of its restructuring plan. The US bankruptcy court for the District of Western Pennsylvania in September approved Rue21’s reorganization plan that was devised after the retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May.

The retailer added five executives to its Board, including former Uniqlo and Wal-Mart executive John Fleming, Jennifer Gosselin, SVP of Merchandising at Minted, and Larry Meyer, who held top positions at Uniqlo, Forever 21, Gymboree, Toys "R" Us, PepsiCo, and Nielsen.
