The retailer, owned by Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC), will offer around 750 labels, ranging from the luxury to the mid-market segment and aimed at men, women and children. Products from footwear, accessories, home and sport categories will also be on offer. The chain promises to focus on its 'Fast Moving Fashion' concept, meaning that the store’s assortment will regularly be renewed.

Saks Off 5th first entered the European market in June 2017, opening a flagship store in Düsseldorf, Germany. Aside from the Rotterdam, and soon Amsterdam, locations, the chain has plans for additional stores in the Netherlands. For 2017, Saks aims to develop 150 full-time and part-time positions within the two Dutch branches.

Saks Off 5th is a subsidiary and outlet offshoot of Saks Fifth Avenue, a luxury department store. Its main flagship store is located on Fifth Avenue, New York City. The outlet format, Saks Off 5th, was first introduced in 1990.

Hudson’s Bay, another HBC-owned and -operated brand, debuted on 5 September in Amsterdam. The department store format will also open a Rotterdam location, in addition to stores in The Hague, Leiden, Maastricht, Almere, Zwolle, Den Bosch and Tilburg.
