Spring 2018 Wear LACMA to launch next week

The Great and LFrank are the two newest LA-based designers to contribute to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)'s Wear LACMA program which creates apparel and accessories inspired by the museum's collection.

The Spring 2018 Wear LACMA collection includes silk kimonos and sleep masks by lingerie designer Liseanne Frankfurt of LFrank, who was inspired by LACMA's Japanese art collection.

This season's collection also includes embroidered denim jackets, fleeces, and graphic tees by The Great's Emily Current and Meritt Elliott, who took inspiration from landscape paintings of the American West.

Wear LACMA's founder, Katherine Ross, said in a statement, "In this latest collection for Wear LACMA, the designers have created a wonderful dialogue between the artworks in LACMA’s permanent collection and their unique fashion pieces that speak to their unique aesthetics."

Ross is the wife of LACMA Director Michael Govan and is also a fashion consultant and former LVMH employee. She and LACMA founded the Wear LACMA program in 2012. Previous designers who have contributed to the program include Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Libertine's Johnson Hartig, and surfer Kelly Slater's sustainable brand, Outerknown. Past collections have included jewelry by Jennifer Meyer and handbags and accessories by Clare Vivier.

The Spring 2018 Wear LACMA collection officially launches on June 6th online and at the museum the following day. Prices for the Spring collection range from $80 for a children's graphic tee from The Great to a $1,800 hand painted pearl silk charmeuse dressing gown from LFrank.
