Toronto’s Startup Fashion Week (SFW) is kicking off its 2016 programming with a Preview Party on Tuesday, August 30.

At the 2016 Preview Party, guests will meet with SFW alumni, learn more about SFW's 2016 participants and sponsors as well as see a runway-style presentation featuring two emerging designers. The alumni showcase will feature designers such as Leandra Pepper from Pepper Couture and designer Amanda Maria, while designers Darlene Damassia from Damassia and Michelle Walmsley from Vesika Pisces will participate in the runway showcase.

"The level of interest to participate in this year's event was so overwhelming, we decided to offer two designers an opportunity to showcase at the Preview Party because we couldn't provide space for every applicant on the Runway in October, but we feel people should know about these designers; they deserve an opportunity to have visibility in Toronto's fashion community," says Jodi Goodfellow, founder and executive producer of SFW, in a news statement.

Following the recently announced cancellation of Toronto Fashion Week, SFW will help fill the void in the Canadian fashion ecosystem.

"As our community grows, we are reaching new and exciting milestones. We have some big announcements that will be made at the 2016 Preview Party," adds Goodfellow,

SFW is the first of its kind. It was conceived in 2014 and was created to bridge the gap between the growing fashion and tech industries in Canada and focuses on aiding to launch, accelerate, and sustain startup businesses.

The third edition of SFW will take place October 3 to the 7, in Toronto, Ontario.
