Stella McCartney has released a short film directed by Sean Ellis and starred by Irish actor Cillian Murphy to celebrate the launch of the brand’s first Autumn Winter menswear collection.

The film was premiered at a launch party at the Ye Olde Mitre in London in an event that gathered a host of celebrities including Steven Tyler, Mary McCartney, Steve Coogan, Presley Gerber, Heloise Letissier, Lucie de la Falaise and Isaac Carew.

The film sees Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy venture deep into the English woodland in a mysterious journey. A memory drives him to discover a symbolic wood cabin set ablaze.

Paul McCartney contributed to the short film’s music, creating distorted sounds that evoke the character’s journey between the present and the past.

Stella McCartney’s first AW menswear collection features English heritage fabrics such as wool and plaids to pay tribute to the label’s British roots. Tailored pieces sit alongside speedway bomber and baseball jackets to contrast formalwear and casualwear, while the brand’s sustainable ethos runs across the range with organic cotton, regenerated cashmere and sustainable viscose.
