While speaking in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo stated he is working with the New York streetwear brand on an upcoming collection.

Supreme has yet to release an exact date or further information, but Otomo stated the collection would get an official announcement sometime later this month.

Katsuhiro Otomo is one of the few manga artists to have gained notoriety abroad thanks to his popular manga Akira. In addition to his work on both the manga and the animated film version of Akira, Otomo has also worked as a writer and director for films such as Steamboy and Metropolis. In 2015, Supreme collaborated with fellow Japanese manga artist Toshio Maeda. The erotic manga artist is best known for his infamous series Urotsukidōji.

Otomo’s collaboration comes hot on the heels of Supreme’s collection with famed artist Andres Serrano. Earlier this year, the New York City label also worked with Japanese brand Hysteric Glamour. The brand’s most hyped release of the year was its collaboration with French luxury house Louis Vuitton, which was released around the world.
