After more than 23 years, The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers (also known as the Braderie de Mode Québécoise) is making its way to Toronto for the first time.

The shopping event established in 1994 and dedicated to the sale of local Quebec designers, launched in Toronto this weekend with plans to become a permanent bi-annual shopping happening, just like its Quebec counterpart.

Not only does the event gather well over three dozen Quebec designers under one roof, items are also available at 30 to 80 percent off retail prices.

The first Toronto edition dubbed The Toronto Big Fashion Sale, took place September 29 to October 1 at the Enercare Center and included more than 40 Quebec designer brands, as well as up-coming labels from Toronto. Designer brands from Quebec included Ça Va De Soi, Anne-Marie Chagnon jewelry, Iris Setlawke, Au Noir, and more.

“We’re thrilled to give Toronto fashion fans the opportunity to discover Quebec talents and brands that are not widely available in the city,” explained Anne de Shalla, event producer, in a news statement. “This is only the beginning! We have plans to be in Toronto twice a year, once in September and once in April, to make The Big Fashion Sale the same shopping tradition that it already is in other Canadian cities.”

Event organizers hope to attract some 10,000 shoppers to the first Toronto edition, about less than a third of shoppers the event’s Montreal edition usually receives.

Next, the event will head to Gatineau, October 5-7; Montreal, October 19-22; Sherbrooke, October 26-28; and finally Quebec City, November 10-12.
