FIT Foundation appoints Fern Mallis as Director

Fern Mallis, a consultant, author and the founder of New York Fashion Week, has added Director of the FIT Foundation to her long list of titles. The not-for-profit foundation announced her appointment on Tuesday.

The FIT Foundation is an advisory board and fundraising body for to FIT. The foundation was founded in 1944 to nurture and educate the future leaders of the fashion industry.
 
As Director, Mallis, who received the Presidents Award for Lifetime Achievement from FIT in 2013, will serve as a mentor and advisor tasked with advancing FIT’s mission and vision.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Fern Mallis is currently the President of her own international fashion and design agency and the creator and host of the 92nd Street Y conversation series. Mallis created New York Fashion Week, formerly known as 7th on Sixth Productions, and led the CFDA as executive director from 1991 to 2001. She also served as SVP of IMG Fashion from 2001 to 2010.
 
In 2015, Mallis released her first book, Fashion Lives: Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis.
