Tommy Hilfiger teases new collaboration with Vetements

Vetements’ long list of collaborators has officially increased by one on Monday with the announcement of a partnership with Tommy Hilfiger. The American fashion designer shared a photo on his personal Instagram page to confirm the partnership and express his excitement for the collaboration.

The upcoming collaboration collection will include the red co-branded hoodie that Hilfiger posted on Instagram, as well as additional oversized hoodies, short-sleeve t-shirts, and socks in grey and fuchsia and Tommy Hilfiger’s signature navy and red. The collection will launch in February and prices will range from $103 to $1,120.

Designer Demna Gvasalia has partnered with several brands in recent years including Reebok on the first-ever Vetements sneaker, as well as Comme des Garçons, Manolo Blahnik, Brioni, Juicy Couture, Canada Goose, Dr. Martens, Levi’s, Champion and 10 other brands for the Vetements spring 2017 collection that debuted in July 2016.

Gvasalia’s partnership with Tommy seems fitting when considering the Georgia-born designer’s love affair with 1990s brands and trends. Gvasalia was recently called out by music producer and art connoisseur Swizz Beatz for an all-over print shirt that bore a resemblance with the logo of Yonkers, NY rap group Ruff Ryders, which hit the music scene in the 90s.

Tommy Hilfiger made his mark in the 90s and reissued the now vintage styles at his first see-now-buy-now in New York City in September 2016. The timing of this new collaboration looks right and will likely prove to be a solid match for both brands.
