UBM’s Project and MRket join forces for an enhanced prologue to NYFW: Men’s

Project and MRket have teamed up to create an event debuting Fall/Winter 2018 menswear collections and featuring international partnerships before New York Fashion Week: Men's.

The event will be organized around curated international neighborhoods - UBM

The event, which opens this Sunday, will showcase apparel, footwear and accessories from a wide range of brands including both classic and up-and-coming labels, in a show space structured around a number of curated neighborhoods.

Both Project and MRket will feature neighborhoods foregrounding different international menswear markets. Project will host Scandinavian MAN, a destination dedicated to new and established brands from Northern Europe such as CDLP, Project Twlv and Sands Copenhagen, which will also feature live storytelling and immersive photography. MRket, on the other hand, will contain neighborhoods such as Brits in New York and Made in Italy, spotlighting brands from the UK and Italy, respectively.

Other neighborhoods at Project will include The Foundry, which will present apparel, male grooming items and homeware inspired by “the modern gentleman’s cultured point of view and aesthetic”, and The Tents, a high-end apparel space.

“2018 is going to be a monumental year for UBM Fashion’s men’s brands. Leading with the CFDA partnership Project Men’s visibility will be felt on and off the trade show floor,” stated Tommy Fazio, Men’s Fashion Director, UBM Fashion, in a release.

Project will also give its first ever runway presentation during New York Fashion Week: Men’s at Skylight Modern on February 5. Confirmed designers for the show include M. Singer and Michael Bastian, with others still to be announced.

The revelation comes hot on the heels of UBM’s announcement of a partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) which aims to support and promote emerging designers in the US. Accordingly, UBM will work with the CFDA to provide the organization’s members with networking services, as well as educational and mentorship programs covering topics such as marketing, manufacturing and finance.

“Now, it is more important than ever to continue to cultivate the strong and emerging menswear brands on the US and global scale,” commented Fazio in reference to the initiative.

Project is held bi-annually in New York and Las Vegas, presenting men’s and womenswear, as well as accessories and footwear. MRket is a global high-end menswear trade show which features brands from the US, Canada and abroad.

Both events are run by international trade-show operator UBM Fashion, which is currently in the process of rethinking both its internal company structure and the way in which its events function, as part of an effort to better serve the industry.

Project and MRket start at the Javits Center, New York on Sunday, January 21 and run through Tuesday, January 23.
