Uniqlo launches brand campaign for Vancouver store opening

Japanese casual apparel retailer Uniqlo is set to open its first store in Vancouver on October 6, and is celebrating the launch with a special campaign.

Dubbed “Natural Union,” the launch campaign was inspired by Vancouver’s lifestyle including both its urban and natural environments, as well as the large diversity of culture found in the city. To bring the campaign to life, which launched on September 18 across digital and out-of-home media platforms, Uniqlo worked with locals who embrace Vancouver’s contrasting lifestyles.

“Vancouver is a key city in Canada and internationally,” explained Yasuhiro Hayashi, Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo Canada, in a news statement. “It is a natural fit and progression for Uniqlo to open a store in this region. We believe that our simple yet innovative, high-quality clothing fits perfectly into the climate, culture and lifestyle of Vancouverites.”

British Columbia’s first Uniqlo will open on October 6 at 10 am at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. The 20,800-square-foot store will offer the brand’s full range of core items of men's, women's, kids' and babies' essentials.

The new store will mark Uniqlo’s third store in Canada. The retailer entered the Canadian market in fall 2016 with the opening of its first store in Toronto at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, followed by a second store opening at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

Since opening its first store in Japan in 1984, Uniqlo has around 1,800 stores in 18 markets worldwide including China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and more.
