Vancouver Fashion Week is set to launch its 30th consecutive season on Monday at David Lam Hall inside the Chinese Cultural Centre in downtown Vancouver where both Canadian and international designers will showcase their spring/summer 2018 collection.

The runway presentations, which will take place September 18 to the 24, will include over 80 designers.

The event will kick off on Monday at 7pm with an Opening Gala and will be followed by a few designer showcases including Australian designer Charly Thorn, Vancouver’s very own Aiki District and Nozomi Kuwahara from Japan.

The seven-day showcase will include both men’s and women’s collections and will equally feature shows from returning designers like Katherine Tessier, and local favourites such as Alex S. Yu, Mary Ebra, and Evan Clayton.

On the international front, designers were handpicked from across North and South America, Asia, and Europe and will include designers from New York, Japan and more.

Last season, Vancouver Fashion Week made international headlines when designer Lesley Hampton launched the #BeBodyAware collaboration with the Be Body Aware Project. The collaboration included a runway show featuring models of all shapes and sizes including amputee Adrianne Haslet, a professional ballroom dancer who lost her leg during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Vancouver Kids Fashion Week, an event dedicated to children’s apparel, will equally take place September 23 and 24.
