Women’s boutique Pia opens in San Francisco

The newest retail tenant in San Francisco's Jackson Square neighborhood is women's boutique Pia.

Pia has moved into the old La Boutique space, pictured here.

Owner Pia Øien Cohler had visions of bringing her New York nostalgia to San Francisco's fashion scene. A fan of the West Village, Cohler found Jackson Square to suit the vibe she wants to offer her consumers of stylish basics in updated colors and silhouettes.

The boutique will carry labels such as Giambattista Valli, Roksanda, Zimmermann and Nina Ricci. It will also sell Dodo Bar Or, House of Dagmar and Solace London to its SF consumers.

Cohler's two favorite pieces for SF professionals include rompers and bomber jackets. She believes the fabric weights will play well together and offer an ease of wearing them throughout SF's micro-climates all over the city.

Jackson Square has seen an upscale retail destination transformation over the past few years. With high profile tenants including Isabel Marant and Shinola coming to the area, Pia's offerings geared toward "modern, active professional women" in their thirties will settle in easily.

"The neighborhood has everything. It’s quaint, there’s great restaurants and, most important for San Francisco, it’s flat and you can walk around here in heels!” Cohler said.

Pia has opened in the old La Boutique location at 414 Jackson Street in downtown SF.

Cohler's goals in the future include bringing in more local SF designers to support the fashion industry which she believes gets overshadowed by the Bay Area's allegiance to Silicon Valley.
