Zang Toi opens first NYC store in 28 years

Malaysian designer Zang Toi opens on Thursday his first retail location in New York City at 1046 Lexington Avenue in the Upper East Side. The new store marks Zang Toi’s first in 28 years.

 
Toi established his namesake label in 1989 after graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York City.
 
The designer said that he had been searching for a New York City retail location for 5 years, and eventually signed a 10-year lease for the Lexington Avenue space.

The new 800-square-foot store features a luxurious interior with marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and rich furniture like mahogany tables with chrome wooden legs.
 
Toi has good company on Lexington Avenue with Jo Malone, Bandier, and Shi Cashmere among others.
