Dries Van Noten - Menswear collection Autumn/Winter 2017/18 in Paris (with interview)

Designer : Dries Van NotenLocation: A car park in the 15th arrondissement in the south of Paris, forming a long hall of tunnels. A place where Dries Van Noten has already shown in 1993 then 1996, a sort of return to the roots for the Belgian designer who presented his 99th collection in Paris.Collection: a crazy energy, a rock’n’roll touch, an urgent youth. The new Dreis Van Noten man doesn’t walk, he runs. In his jeans – very present this seasons – with these jackets and ample coats, with large shoulders. The volume is a requirement. Like the big jumpers with a vintage touch.Dries Van Noten does not forget the flowers, rather in reds, embroidery and even sequins. By the way sparkle is also found on the jumpers. A new way to shine. To note : the more dynamic, rock allure, looking around the future. The tones, like the camel and this grey, or the colour orange particularly across the coat and the puffa jacket aspect. + the white suit trousers, triumphant.Interview with Dries Van Noten : We were here for a fashion show in 93 and in 96 and it brings back very nice memories, and I was very happy that the place still existed, because I really loved the energy of that type of show and so I said I wanted to bring that back, because this is the 99th fashion show, we also looked again at what we did in the past, so we took some pieces from the archive which we reviewed, things that I wanted to take with me to the future, because it’s the 99th fashion show so it’s a symbolic for me. I think I wanted a grounded collection, in that way the denim was important because it’s normal men’s clothes.Music from the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information.)
