Lacoste - Women's Autumn/Winter 2017-18 collection in New York (with interview )

Designer : Felipe Oliveira Baptista Ambiance : Rendez-vous in space some parts in the universe. Incidentally Miss Universe, the French Iris Mittenaere was presente at the show. Also references to the past, when René Lacoste worked for aeronautics and a nod to designer’s father who was a pilot. Silhouette: the astronaut jumpsuit made urban, supple and alluring. In leather & nylon, the trench & the coat become functional, detaching and transforming into jackets.A grunge & “nineties” spirit with baggy trousers and a lunar sweatshirt bringing an even more cool side to the collection, while the squares recall the earth and the concrete. To note : the iridescent colours & the metallic boots + last Lacoste show in New York. Return to Paris for the next season.Interview with Oliveira Baptista : I didn’t want it to stay anecdotal, a cold vision, a bit too retro-futurist and first degree, also even in the balance of the materials with the very high techs with the other very natural, very wearable and very true things, and at the end even, if we are telling a story, the idea is that these are very wearable and desirable clothes. During my studies, I fell on a little Russian film from the 60s and everything was ochre, with browns, sky blue and pale pink and I found that it was interesting to treat this very urban and colour block side but in a more sophisticated and fainter way.I found that it was interesting to look at things from the 90s which became iconic and there is a little homage to that.Music from the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information.)
