A-Cold-Wall opens pop-up in Doha's Harvey Nichols

British designer label A-Cold-Wall has begun a six-week “residency” at the Doha Festival City Mall in Qatar. Its new shop-in-shop 7.2 sq m space is located in the three-storey Harvey Nichols store there.

It’s part of an expansion for the brand into more physical stores in multiple regions, including Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Carrying the SS22 collection, the space was conceived in-house by the brand’s creative team and “reflects established A-Cold-Wall design codes, an evolving architectural programme tying global retail spaces together”.

Alongside consistent visual elements echoing modernist and industrial principles, the Harvey Nichols Doha area “is defined by a series of powder coated volt yellow x-frames (Pantone 13-0630 TN Safety Yellow), lending the space an open feel while signalling a note of bold optimism”.

Brushed stainless steel plating “plays with light and reflection, a nod to seasonal garment detailing, as still and moving editorial imagery bring the Spring/Summer 2022 narrative to life,” we’re told.

A-Cold-wall is one of the most interesting brands to come out of the UK in recent years. Founded by London-based Samuel Ross in 2015, his collection merges British working-class uniforms with elements of Savile Row tailoring.

And in 2019, the former protégé of Off-White’s Virgil Abloh won the UK’s biggest menswear prize for emerging talent, the BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund. Ross was also previously a finalist for the LVMH Prize and worked at Kanye West’s Yeezy brand.
