Adriana Lima is hanging up her Angel wings for the last time.

The Brazilian supermodel and longtime Victoria's Secret ‘Angel' is bowing out after 18 years of strutting the catwalk for the lingerie giant, The Daily Mail reports. The news was broken by Australian model Georgia Fowler, who told the publication: "It will be [Adriana's] last year this year I think." Lima seemed to confirm the news shortly afterwards, posting an emotional message and a montage of her best bits as an Angel for her 11.7 million Instagram fans.

"Dear Victoria," the 37-year-old star wrote alongside the video clip. "Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly."

According to Fashionista, the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which was filmed Thursday night in New York and will be aired on December 2, features an entire segment dedicated to Lima's time with the brand, as well as a ‘victory lap' for the supermodel.

Lima's retirement marks the end of an era for Victoria's Secret -- the model has been walking for the label since the year 2000, and has become synonymous with its glamorous, aspirational image.

However, her retirement as an Angel doesn't necessarily mean we won't still be seeing her on the catwalk -- she has enjoyed a wildly successful fashion career and continues to model for major brands, walking for Miu Miu and Schiaparelli this year alone, as well as fronting ads for Maybelline and landing no fewer than six magazine covers.
