Located downtown in Las Vegas's Town Square, the 30,000 square-foot office will allow Amazon to increase its corporate workforce in the area by more than double. Teams in the new office will support the company’s human resources organization, according to the e-commerce giant.

“We are excited to create more jobs in Las Vegas and continue to invest in the city and its people,” said Tami Dennis, site lead of Amazon’s Las Vegas office.

“We’ve opened the doors to our new office and we’re looking forward to meeting more of the city’s terrific talent as we look to support the diverse needs of our workforce.”

Currently, Amazon’s Las Vegas office houses over 100 employees specializing in managing leave of absence and accommodation services for the company’s employees across the U.S., including requests for job accommodations like American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for Amazon employees and job applicants.

In total, Amazon said it has created more than 3,500 full-time jobs and invested over $2.5 billion in Nevada since 2011, including customer fulfillment infrastructure and compensation to our employees.

According to the company, these investments have contributed more than $1.5 billion to Nevada’s economy, and generated an additional 4,000 indirect jobs outside of the company’s direct hires.

As an added boost to its investment in Nevada, Amazon said it will donate $100,000 to the Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada in Reno, both of which serve children and families in communities where Amazon has fulfillment centers.

In addition, Amazon is currently funding computer science classes or robotics programs in 11 Nevada high schools through Amazon’s ‘Future Engineer’ program, and has awarded three students from Nevada with the ‘Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship’ award.
