Arc’teryx will soon be testing a new retail concept. The Vancouver-based outdoor retailer, specialized in high-end outdoor sports apparel and equipment has announced plans to launch a concept store in its home city this spring.

The new 4,020-square-foot store will open at 813 Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver and will have a particular focus on community and consumer experience. The concept store will feature new spaces such as a ‘warranty and repair bar’ where customers can deal with potential product issues, as well as areas for shoppers to meet, socialize and experience different products.

The store will be Vancouver’s second Arc’teryx location and its sixth Canadian location. The company equally has stores in other markets such as the United States, Switzerland, France, UK, Japan, and China.

Arc’teryx isn’t the first Canadian company to test out new retail concepts designed around customer experience. Vancouver’s Lululemon announced plans earlier this year to open more 'hyper-local’ stores. The company has also experimented with its Lululemon lab store concept, which is focused on designing for the needs of a specific location.

Nike also recently unveiled a new retail experience in Miami, designed to deliver more  personalized services to customers through a number of unique in-store spaces.

Arc’teryx was founded in 1989. It was purchased in 2005 by Finland-based Amer Sports
