Established in 2004 by founder Scott Sternberg, the brand first launched womenswear in 2007. Despite gaining rapidly in popularity, the brand closed its doors in 2015 due to a defaulted loan payment, and Sternberg left the company. The brand would relaunch the following year with an exclusive focus on menswear, and now, Band of Outsiders has announced the return of its womenswear line for Autumn/Winter 2019.

According to a press release, both the brand's AW19 menswear and womenswear collections were inspired by the late-1960s style and spirit of civilians during the moon landing, in addition to fictional accounts like the Damien Chazelle film, "First Man."

Van Mol commented on the collection: “I am very excited to extend our universe of humour and inclusivity to women”.

The womenswear collection will keep to a concise eight looks, featuring pony skin and heritage check wools on blazers and mini skirt co-ords, corduroy suits, chiffon dresses, blue and brown denim as well as plain, striped and printed cotton shirts.

The Band of Outsiders AW19 collection will feature an evocative color palette, with a focus on spice orange, burgundy, olive brown, with accents in camel, navy and black.

The brand is now on its third round of creative leadership under Van Mol and Hettmann, after relaunching twice in 2016.
