Belk seeks Southern designers for its annual Southern Designer Showcase

Belk is now accepting applications for its fourth annual Southern Designer Showcase. Applicants must design apparel, footwear or accessories for men or women and live in the South. Finalists will showcase their designs at Belk HQ in May 2016 and their collections will be available for purchase in select Belk retailers and Belk’s e-commerce site in spring 2017.
 

Belk VP of trend merchandising and fashion direction Cynthia Washburn-Nester, talked about what Belk looks for when evaluating applicants: “We are looking for designers who truly understand Modern. Southern. Style. and can make it come to life in their designs." She also discussed how important it is to the company to support emerging designers from the South.

Belk, Inc., a portfolio company of Sycamore Partners, is a Charlotte, N.C.-based department store company. There are 296 Belk stores in 16 Southern states as well as a growing e-commerce presence for the company.
