Hudson’s Bay Company announced on Wednesday that Vice Chair Bonnie Brooks will retire on December 31, 2016.

Bonnie Brooks will retire as Vice Chair of HBC on December 31, 2016.

Brooks’ retirement will close her 40-year career in fashion, retail and marketing. She spent eight years at HBC serving as CEO and President from 2008 to 2012 and from 2008 to 2014, respectively, during the company’s transformation, as well as Vice Chair since February 2014. Brooks was also the first female CEO and President of HBC.

Her illustrious career includes 12 years at Holt Renfrew where she led the retailer’s merchandising and marketing functions, and 11 years at Lane Crawford. Brooks was recognized and awarded for her fashion career in 2013 by Parsons School of Design and in 2014 was awarded the Ivey Business Leader of the Year in Canada.

“It has been a privilege to work with the team at Hudson’s Bay Company, a true Company of Adventurers. We have seen tremendous change since I joined the Company, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. I look forward to watching the continued success of HBC,” stated Brooks.
