The annual award gala will recognize Canadian-based designers and various members of Canada’s fashion industry across 16 self-nominating categories and through several awards still to be announced at a later date.

Categories include The Womenswear and Menswear Designer of the Year Award, The Outerwear Brand of the Year Award, The Accessory Designer of the Year Award and more.

“We could not be prouder and more excited about what we have accomplished as a community in the past years. We remain steadfast in our commitment to generate a stronger appreciation and market for Canadian fashion talent both in Canada and around the world and look forward to establishing even more connections and opportunities for our industry,” said CAFA president, Vicky Milner.

Also returning this year is The Suzanne Rogers Designer Grant for International Development; a $20,000 grant, which will be presented to an outstanding Canadian fashion designer or brand poised for international expansion.

Last year, Sid Neigum won big taking home both the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award and the $20,000 grant for international development.

Meanwhile, the Menswear Designer of the Year Award was presented to Christopher Bates, beating out Canadian brands Frank And Oak, Raised By Wolves and 18 Waits.

The official 2020 nominees are expected to be announced in January 2020.
