At 128,000-square-feet, not only is it the luxury outwear company’s largest manufacturing facility to date, but also the largest apparel manufacturing employer in the province of Manitoba.

The facility will employ more than 700 new employees over the next three years, while Canada Goose employs 20 percent of the cut and sew labour industry in Canada.

The site is the company’s seventh wholly-owned facility, including Canada Goose’s third Winnipeg site. Three others can be found in Toronto, while another is located in Boisbriand, Quebec.

As for on the inside, classic Canada Goose parkas, as well as newer lightweight styles are waiting to be produced.

Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, was on site to welcome Canada Goose's announcement.

"Canada Goose is a global success story of entrepreneurship because it has never forgotten its roots. The company is committed to a product that is distinctly Canadian, and every year employs more and more people across the country,” said Trudeau, in a news statement.

“We are pleased that Canada Goose has decided to once again expand in Winnipeg, and create hundreds of new jobs for Canadians. I know Canada Goose will continue to be an example of how far Canada and Canadians can go, all around the world."

In conjunction with the opening, Canada Goose also announced the expansion of its sewing training school program within its Winnipeg operations. The schools provide a free sewing program, followed by full-time employment opportunities at Canada Goose when successfully completed.

"Made in Canada isn't a slogan for Canada Goose – our commitment to growing production capacity in Canada is stronger than ever. We are proud of our role in creating manufacturing jobs in Canada, and to be doing it in Winnipeg – a city we are privileged to call home," said Canada Goose’s President & CEO, Dani Reiss.

Canada Goose was founded in 1957 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

The company currently has stores in London, Toronto, New York, Boston, Chicago, Calgary and Tokyo.

It said it plans to have up to 20 stores globally by 2020, with store openings planned in Vancouver, Montreal, New Jersey, Beijing and Hong Kong this fall.

Canada Goose is also sold at luxury retailers in more than 38 countries around the world as well as Canada Goose online.
