Carvela to launch in US in deal with Dillard's
Kurt Geiger’s popular Carvela shoe brand is to launch in the US in a deal with department store chain Dillard’s. It will be available through 75 stores across the US exclusively in time for the coming Holiday season.
The London-designed collection features a wide offer from occasion shoes to ultra-casual pieces and sells at a more affordable price point than the higher-end Kurt Geiger offer.
Dillard’s will launch Carvela in December with a cruise collection that showcases the brand’s “elegant heels, on-trend fashion sneakers and a selection of sandal styles for all occasions”. Selling prices will range from $85 to $150 and the launch will be supported by an exclusive campaign for Dillard’s.
Steven Sousa, International Director of Kurt Geiger, said the deal is a “fantastic opportunity” for the brand while Dillard’s Director of Exclusive Branded Footwear Michelle Dillard Hobbs said it’s seen as a strong addition to the retailer’s curated footwear assortment.
It’s a big move for Kurt Geiger which is the leading premium footwear brand in Britain and which has a wide variety of labels at different price points, including Kurt Geiger London, KG, Carvela and Miss KG.
It has been focusing as much on growth overseas as in its core UK market and earlier this year, the company announced it had partnered with Reliance Brands’ Genesis Luxury to launch in India with the first stores planned for this autumn.
It was also reported to have held informal sales talks with a value of around £450 million being suggested for the business.
