Cath Kidston has tapped former senior Victoria Beckham executive James Wintle to take on the role of digital director.

He joined the brand, which plunged deeper into the red in its last financial year, on Tuesday.

Wintle was most recently chief digital and technical officer at luxury brand Victoria Beckham. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at AllSaints, where he held the roles of global director of digital and technology and global head of ecommerce.

As the new digital director at Cath Kidston, replacing Lynn Ritson, Wintle will be in charge of leading the brand’s digital strategy alongside all paid marketing activities and customer data analytics, according to Essential Retail.

Ritson quit her role earlier this year to become a global digital director at Walgreens Boots Alliance.

Cath Kidston CEO Melinda Paraie said: “I’m delighted to welcome James to this key role in the Cath Kidston team.

“His wealth of experience with businesses such as AllSaints and brands like Victoria Beckham will be invaluable as we further develop our digital strategy going forward.”

The online channel proved particularly strong for the Cath Kidston brand in the year to 25 March 2018, enjoying significant growth in Japan and the UK. But according to the company’s most recent accounts, the decline in the pound had a negative effect on its losses, which widened to over £10m during the period.
