Three weeks after presenting his first Haute Couture collection of 11 hand-painted looks, 24-year-old French designer Charles de Vilmorin is once again causing a stir as he takes on the role of creative director at the Rochas brand.

It's been a meteoric rise for the fashion lover, who graduated from the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2019 and has had the support of Jean Paul Gaultier since the start of his career, presenting his first collection in 2020, in the midst of lockdown.

"I am extremely honoured to be joining the Maison Rochas as creative director. Rochas is a brand that holds a special place in my heart, due to both deep personal family ties and the label’s heritage which I find so rich and inspiring. I can’t wait to bring my personal touch and reinterpret the codes of this beautiful Maison," commented the designer.

Vilmorin's appointment follows the recent departure of Alessandro Dell'Acqua, who had held the role for six years.

The Interparfums group, which acquired Rochas for $108 million in 2015, has also announced the extension of its manufacturing partnership with Italy's HIM Co SPA, formerly Onward Luxury Group, for Rochas' women's ready-to-wear.
